A well-appointed, pleasant hotel. The staff were great - very helpful and friendly. We appreciated the relaxed atmosphere and good food. Would recommend.

Dog friendly, pleasant facilities and surroundings (nice lounge, big garden), good food, friendly staff, comfortable, pleasant room.

Very clean friendly hotel. Nothing was a bother to staff. Good parking. Plenty of hot water for baths. If you have mobility problems ask at time of booking whether there are rooms with easy disabled access.

Hotel easy to find, staff very helpful. Facilities good, bar food excellent value, good selection and very tasty. Breakfast very good, nicely cooked and good selection. Tea/coffee making facilities in room. Comfy bed, soft towels very nice toiletries provided.

No hairdryer in room. Breakfast was alittle hurried ie staff brought cooked food whilst I was still eating my cereal. No marmalade on table only jam. The stairs to rooms are steep, not much good for those with mobility problems.

We had a good time and the staff at the hotel were friendly and attentive. The hotel is in a small settlement about 2 miles out of town on one of the cross-country routes (Alston - Durham road). Our only real regret was the poor weather, but that is hardly to be laid at the door of the hotel!

Friendly staff and good clean room; breakfasts were excellent

Bar facilities limited; food fine though rather basic; hotel a little out of town and parking in town is tricky. You definitely need a car!
