Wonderful stay, wonderful hosts.

Audrey was the most gracious hostess! Helped us in every way possible, including having a restaurant up the road stay open for a bit to accomodate us on a late evening arrival. Comfortable bed, big room and large bath. Although our stay was short (1 night only) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Location in regards to town of St. Andrews. A bit off the beaten path.

I had forgotten to return the keys when we left, and called the Bells to let them know I would be taking a taxi to bring it back before I hopped on a train to Glasgow. Mrs Bell said, "You'll do nothing of the kind!" Her husband was dispatched and met me at the train station. That's not the sort of thing that professional hotels would do, but it is the sort of thing that family would do.

The Bells, who own and run the hotel, were extremely hospitable and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure that we had all the accommodations we needed. They were like family to us. The hotel is charming and obviously is cared for dearly. Staying here was the highlight of our hotel experience in the past two months in the UK. I wanted to smoke a cigar outside and they worked some things around to let me do that at night, with sufficient lighting and a place to sit and read. The breakfasts were delicious and we all engaged in lively conversations with them.

It's a little far out from St Andrews, but well worth the drive! We'll stay here again when we come to St Andrews.
