Cheap hotel with entertainment, suits...

Liked: So we paid a bit extra and requested high level room ended up in 1204, lets not get away from the hotel needs an update but have said that for 15 years, the room was clean the bathroom dated and pokey and the TV was a smaller screen than my I-phone. However the balcony was a good size view to France and Dover were great, it needed a clean out there and the seats were rotten but just took the chairs from inside to out and spent an enjoyable afternoon on the balcony. Yes its a cheap stay, food was better than average in the Victoria restaurant however why they do not synchronise the house staff to start cleaning top from bottom so the more you pay the earlier you can book in is beyond me, you would stop the big queues between 2pm and 3pm, come on think about it you are part of a significant hotel chain.
Disliked: Update required, smart TV's are not expensive bought on bulk so easy fix there to improve, the milk cartons for the tea making facilities were long life and OFF so how long they had been in store who knows, pillows were thin, but did supply a second, no air con but was on the top floor with door open, bar area lounge seating was the same 15 years ago. Parking cost 5 that wasn't mentioned when booking, and although we booked top room we had to pay 5 each for upgrade on restaurant??

This hotel really need a...

Liked: Location.
Disliked: The room smelled old and damp, the wallpaper was ripped and the shower either was stone cold or super hot. Room service tried to come into the room at 9AM? They already have very early check out time (10AM) so don't get it why. Also the room had no working TV or Wi-Fi.

Served it's purpose but would...

Liked: Location was convenient as a stopover before an early morning Eurotunnel booking. Breakfast was plentiful buffet style with choice of continental and cooked options.
Disliked: Hotel is very dated, very musty smell in corridors and rooms. It was probably in its prime 20/30 years ago but needs a great deal spending to update it. Although a non smoking room hotel, the smell of cigarette smoke was present as you passed rooms. Car parking is available onsite at an additional 5 per day.
