The thoughtful supply of ear defenders was a nice touch; the friendly welcome and comfortable beds all combined to make our stay a fantastic one with good memories.

Not enjoyable at all!!
Disliked: The room was dirty, we left a smily face in the dust. We were told there was a manual in the room to explain the shower, which was not there, we asked for it, and it was still not given to us. As a result, you got a scalding hot or freezing cold shower( well hand shower, with 3 spurts). The lady who checked us in arrived back at the lodging at 02h20 in the morning, and decided it was a good idea to have a loud conversation with someone on the other side of the road, right outside the downstairs bedroom where she had checked us in earlier in the day?? Breakfast was arranged for 8am, there was nobody at reception to let us know where the dining room was, we tried to look! The phone to call reception or afterhours was not working, so we left a note thanking them for nothing!! I would love to know who rated this lodging a 6/6... they must have been blind!

Liked: The price of the room was very good for a New Year Eve. The room was warm and big, very cosy and nicely decorated. I forgot a pair of shoes and received a text message with a pictures of the shoes. The owner kept them until I could come to collect them. Communication was smooth and nice. I recommend this place.

Friendly staff, great location &...
Liked: Friendly staff, fantastic location in the heart of the city but fairly quiet street. Nice cold and hot breakfast options made to order.
Disliked: Honestly, the staff were very friendly and nothing against them at all, however, I really wasn't happy with the bathroom. The toilet had a macerator attached to the back of it which is basically a food blender for human waste and it went off every time the toilet flush was pressed (and sometimes randomly) at the decibel level of a food blender. The room next door also had the same setup and it's extremely disturbing late at night or early in the morning. Furthermore, it doesn't seem to fully extract the waste from it's receptacle because it stinks of excrement for hours after use. The staff informed me that our room and the one next to it were the only ones with macerators and they would be removing them in the near future, so that's a plus. Nevertheless, it doesn't make up for our experience. Luckily we didn't spend that much time in the room as there is an exciting city to explore right outside. Lastly, I purchased a £10 24 hour parking ticket which my girlfriend filled in. The next morning I was greeted with a £25 parking fine because she had misinterpreted how to fill it out. She scratched off our arrival day AND day after rather than just arrival day. We are to blame for this, but on speaking to the chap at reception he said that this recently happened to another guest and to him when he first moved there - If this is a common mistake, why not mention it when handing over the ticket to fill out? Just a suggestion :) In conclusion, this is a decent place to stay if the macerator toilets are removed!
