Liked: The staff here are lovely and the location of the hotel is good, however, the room was rather shabby. The carpets were old and stained, as was the furniture. Unfortunately the shower failed to produce hot water. I don't know if all of the rooms are like this or if we were given this room because we had a dog. Just note that the pictures on the site were probably taken about 10 years ago.
Disliked: Wifi didn't work on our Mac devices

Liked: Clean bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful.
Disliked: The room was very hot even though the radiator wasn't on. I was on the ground floor so didn't want to open the window. Water not good when boiled so a cup of tea not enjoyable.

Liked: Location
Disliked: Only staff we saw were receptionist, and not acknowledged unless you were under their noseDid not like the sink hidden behind the bathroom door , especially as was so small you had to back onto toilet to close the door .

Liked: The little bar was nice.
Disliked: The first room I was in had a leaking sink and was very small. The room needed updating and was not value for money. I asked for the sink to be looked at when I went out. When I returned the sink was still leaking so I returned to the reception. I was told it could not be repaired till the following day but was not offered to change rooms. I did comment how I was disappointed in the quality of the room and then I was offered to change rooms. I was given a much better room however I feel this should have been offered when the sink was not going to be able to be fixed. The reception staff were very helpful. This hotel needs a lot of updating.

A lovely central hotel, full...

Liked: The breakfast was delicious, made to order, I had Eggs Royale and my friend had Omelette, both excellent with great service.
Disliked: The radiator didn't work in our room, however on reporting this a member of staff bought us a portable heater.

Comfortable hotel near the docks

Liked: Pleasant warm rooms with shampoo and shower gel. Not far from Southampton shops and 2-3 mins to Weatherspoons where meals are really reasonably priced

I was there for work...

Liked: The hotel is really well located in the city centre and the parking is quite reasonable (5 for 24 hours). The staff were helpful and friendly and breakfast was decent as well.
Disliked: I was in one of the 'cottage' rooms, which I think are away from the main building. These have some quite nice original features but the radiator didn't work in my room (I was provided with a space heater) and there was no heating in the (tiny) bathroom.
