Disliked: Rooms at the front of the Hotel are extremely noisy , you hear everything happening outside all night . Impossible to sleep and I was very disappointed . Gym does not open until 7 am -no good when travelling on business with early starts.

Comfortable room and great location
Liked: Hotel location cannot be bettered in Newcastle in my opinion. I love the character of Victorian buildings and the Royal Station Hotel has been tastefully maintained and still tries to cater for a wide demographic. The staff members we encountered were almost universally helpful, friendly, smiling and appeared to enjoy their jobs which can be a bit of a novelty in my experience of some British hospitality and tourism establishments. Good supply of water and other consumables in the room. As is usual, breakfast was self service but both hot and cold food was plentiful and the staff were very efficient in clearing plates and tables ensuring that tables were readily available.
Disliked: Being somewhat vertically challenged, I don't particularly like fixed head showers as there is no opportunity to adjust them. Mirror above the desk in the bedroom could have been a bit bigger. The reading lights above the bed were a little too high and again no way to adjust them so as not to disturb others when reading in bed. Small things I know but it's often the small things that make a difference?

Met my expectations. Bit noisy...
Disliked: My room was quite dark on a night. Could do with a ceiling light. Got woke up a few times at the weekend with people coming in after a night out. Windows rattle when it?s windy.
