By Car: From the A1 (east): - Follow the A1 towards Dunbar. - Exit the A1 at signs for the A1087 (Queen's Road), which will lead you into Dunbar. - Turn left at Countess Road. - Station Road is your next left. From the A1 (west): - Follow the A1 in an easterly direction until you have crossed the River Tyne (near East Linton). - At the 2nd roundabout you come to, take the 1st exit onto Spott Road. - Continue on until you reach the A1087 (Queens Road), where you must turn left. - Turn left into Countess Road. - Station Road is your next left. Parking: Private parking for 12 vehicles is available at the hotel. By train (from Dunbar Railway Station, 300 m): From the station, head north up Station Road, which will lead you to the hotel. By air (from Edinburgh Airport, 33 miles / 53 km): - Take the number 100 bus to Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh. - From Waverley Railway Station you can catch trains to Dunbar, leaving every 2 hours until 15:00, and roughly half-hourly between 17:00 and 19:00. - Alternatively, Firstbus operates the more frequent number 6 bus service to Dunbar, leaving from St Andrew Square (across the road from Waverley Bridge).

Hotel Information

Built in 1854 the hotel is a traditional Victorian villa in the centre of the busy town of Dunbar. It has 16 en suite rooms, all of which are comfortable furnished and have either a king-size or standard double bed. The Lighthouse restaurant opened in October 2007 serving a range of dishes using fresh local produce. The Veranda bar has a comfortable local atmosphere offering a wide range of beers, wines and spirits including over 30 malt whiskeys.

Area Information

Belhaven Brewery (0.8 miles / 1.2 km) - having been brewing since 1719, this was until 2005 the longest established independent brewery in the U.K. Tours of the brewery are popular with tourists. Preston Mill (6.6 miles / 10.6 km) - situated on the River Tyne in nearby East Linton, this is one of the oldest mechanically working mills in Scotland. The nearby mill pond is home to various ducks and geese. Tantallon Castle (10 miles / 16 km) - an imposing 14th century castle, now a partial ruin since an attack by Cromwell's army in 1651. Situated on a rocky headland surrounded by high cliffs, the site offers northerly views of the sea-bird colony on Bass Rock.
