Steve N, Manchester, visiting Band on the Wall Sun, 18 December 2016

There's no point, really. If the hotel management cannot see that offering a room so bad in 2016 is utterly unacceptable then they truly are in the wrong business. Where are the Council's Trading Standards Department when you need them? Damp stains on the ceiling; a mattress from the 1970s; half a smoke alarm; mould in the bathroom; cigarettes extinguished on the side of the bath; worn out MFI furniture. Er, that's enough now...

Liked: It's in a great location... but that really is it.
Disliked: Too much to bother typing it all out...

Samantha, Leeds, visiting Manchester Arena Mon, 16 February 2015

I would definitely stay again and so would my friend; the staff in the hotel part were very friendly and helpful, but in the bar area where we ordered a Valentine's meal it took over an hour to get the meal and then they got the order wrong - but in the end we got what we asked for, although late. I kept having to go to the bar to see where our food was and we were going to an event at the arena. The hotel is in the centre and only 15 minute walk to the arena and bars - it has a good atmosphere and everyone is friendly.

Liked: Overall the staff on reception were very helpful and friendly.
Disliked: Service for a meal in the restaurant.

Noisy but convenient

Liked: Value for money, with a good location
Disliked: It's an old building so no sound protection between floors and all the floor boards creek. Also there's no double glazing so you get to hear your neighbours, both the ones inside and the ones outside!

Handy location, basic but good...

Liked: Good value for money, handy location and perfect for what I needed (one night on my own). Comfy bed, friendly and helpful staff, easy to find.
Disliked: The ensuite was tiny, fine for one night and for one person though. For me it was alright, but if you are bigger it would be a bit uncomfortable. I wore earplugs as the walls are thin. The heating didn't come on but there was a fluffy blanket so I wasn't cold.

Very good

Liked: The staff were lovely and friendly food was lovely and the down stairs bar was clean and modern
Disliked: I know it's an old building but the floor sloped and were very nosey when your trying to be quite. There was no heating in the room
