Perfect for exploring Lincoln.

Liked: Comfortable and quirky. Relaxed breakfast set-up. Great host.
Disliked: The driveway is very steep and difficult to negotiate.

Awful and never to be...

Liked: This property was extremely disappointing from every aspect so there were no aspects that I wish to make a positive comment upon.
Disliked: The outside of the property was rundown with flaking paintwork, overgrown garden with rubble. Our room was incredibly shabby with wires across the ceiling, a possible smoke alarm hanging, carpet worn and frayed around the edges, curtains hanging from the pole, a single bed under a large television fixed to the wall with a substandard covering that was supposed to be a headboard. The bedding was floral and mismatched and the towels were hard and rough. The continental breakfast consisted of cereals, do-it-yourself toast or egg and jam in jars on the table. Make your own tea and coffee, no croissants, cheese, meats or any other general foods associated with a Continental breakfast. Considering the cost of the stay was equal to local hotels the whole experience was extremely disappointing. We left after one night although we had paid for two as the owner/manager was rather bullish once we had complained about the quality of his establishment.

A really good place to...

Liked: Very friendly, helpful and considerate staff. Hotel very near Cathedral and castle. Parking available. Old building with modern facilities.
Disliked: I do understand that this would be difficult to change BUT access to building and finding it is not easy especially when they close off one of the access roads, and also parking on such a steep slope is scary for me! I had to move my driving seat from outside the car as every time I moved it forward from the inside It moved backwards!

Disliked: The decor in the bedroom we were in could do with a little refresh.

In the centre of Lincoln...

Liked: Met by member of staff who explained about accommodation, facilities etc. Room was very clean. En suite was excellent. Lovely to have two armchairs to relax in rather than sit on the bed. Range of teas and coffees in room, plus a teapot -very nice touch. Fresh milk readily available whenever it was wanted. A very friendly member of staff chatted to us about the city and places to visit, she was very knowledgeable. A gold star member of staff! Breakfast was set out in a room with a large window overlooking the city, very relaxing. Loved the bright crockery on the table. Radiator in room was set to pleasant temperature. Owner friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Nothing as such. Do beware that the steep drive is very steep and curves towards the house. If you ask when you book you can use on road parking ....especially useful if you have a larger car. ( Visitor information in our room mentioned the on road parking.) Also on one way road; Poplars very close to the top of the road , just off the bend, however the house name is on the wall where you can't see it until you have driven past! Ideally it would be helpful to have the house name on the left hand wall as well.
