For GBP 50 per night...

Liked: 1) Location: close to city centre (5 min walking distance) and opposite council car park (GBP 4.- per 24h) 2) Magnificent building 3) WiFi connection and speed OK for streaming 4) Pool table in communal room (breakfast room) downstairs 5) Cat-friendly*: Cats roaming free inside the building *(Probably not so good if you've got an allergy against pet hair!)
Disliked: 1) Don't expect to get any sleep during the night: There is only one key card per room; so every time one of the student residents comes back from a party between 4 and 5am in the morning there is loud banging on doors, often several times as the people with the key cards inside the dormitories are asleep and take their time to open the doors Result: Of the 3 nights I spent in this hotel I got NO night of sleep - and no refund (not even an apology) from the hotel!!! 2) No remote controls for TVs on the rooms. Which means: no TV guide, no switching channels without getting up each time, no sleep timer. Response from hotel staff: "remotes are currently locked away - don't know where", again: no apology, no refund 3) Breakfast is VERY basic: no cooked breakfast - merely 2 types of cereals, 2 types of toast, 2 types of jam, tea, coffee, 2 types of fruit juice, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fruit preserves 4) Quite dirty: My room has not been cleaned and beds not been made throughout my 3-day-stay; stains on the carpet in the room and in the hallway; rubbish (take-away left-overs, etc) in the hallway each day; and tables in the breakfast room are sticky and look as if they had not been wiped for days

Won't be visiting again.

Liked: Beds comfy.
Disliked: Some staff were rude and unhelpful. Waiter in breakfast room extremely helpful. Breakfast items were in short supply as were cups, cutlery and plates.
