A most agreeable hotel, with a nice historic feel about it.

Liked: Good location.
Disliked: Rude staff who didn't seem to know what they were doing- not friendly or welcoming. Had to wait for a long time to check-in whilst other staff were just wandering around not doing anything. Awful view of railings, a wall and rubbish from room. Specifically asked for egg free food at afternoon tea and was told they don't have anything available, very unapologetic about it and didn't seem to worry about the severity of the allergy, saying 'the cakes should be ok'! Not impressed with the hospitality here. Would NOT recommend!!

Brilliant, didn't want to leave
Liked: We got upgraded to a sea view room which was really kind of the reception team, it was such a beautiful view, we really needed a drink in the early hours of the morning so went downstairs and the member of night staff happily let us buy a couple bottles of water, he was very friendly & happy to help.

Worst hotel in Bournemouth. Tiny...
Liked: The Location right next to the beach.
Disliked: It was horrible the worst hotel I've stayed in poor service. Rooms tiny, not clean bathroom I was horrified I paid 245 for the night it was awful. No air conditioning. You couldn't open the windows. I rather stayed in my bedroom. Very old fashioned resembled a prison. Staff unhelpful. Lack of staff some couldn't even speak English. Absolutely disgusted.

Perfect location, great staff, but...
Liked: The location was perfect to walk everywhere around bornemouth it's self. Second room we moved to was comphy and a good size. All the staff were excellent very friendly and helpful, food in oscars was lovely.
Disliked: Didn't like the first room we were given as it was the smallest room ever and to make matters worse it had no windows at all . There were lots of hidden charges e.g. £20 per night parking, £4 per person per day from use of pool, £1 per person for a towel, £1 each for locker all non refundable.also even a 50p charge for using a debit card!!

Will never stay here again.
Disliked: Room was next to a boiler humming 24/7 and next to the cleaners room who were loudly inconsiderate early morning. Breakfast was buffet and cold for anyone who came after 07:15.

Low quality, high price. Really...
Liked: One benefit was the location.
Disliked: The room was horrifically hot with a minescule window. When I asked reception if they could (a) turn off the heating, (b) provide an additional fan or (c) provide an extension cable for the room I was met with disdane and extreme rudeness by the male receptionist. The room was extremely uncomfortable for such an expensive price, it was extremely tatty and dated. The breakfast was overpriced, over-cooked and barely edible. The breakfast room is in urgent need of refurbishment with faded and dirty chairs and wobbly tables. The staff on the reception were rude, disinterested and clearly thinking more about the end of their shift, than helping out guests. Any request was met with derision and made me feel like I was an inconvenience to them. Will not be back.

I had a business meeting...
Liked: The breakfasts were served on small plates ( a cost saving measure beneath the dignity of a hotel of this rating) , the food had been left to grow tired and unappetising and the toaster could not deliver decently toasted toast.
Disliked: The whole hotel had the feel of under investment and slow decline.

Liked: its location near the sea
Disliked: almost everything. It is an ancient hotel, desperately in need of a shake-up. Only 20 mins free wifi in an expensive bedroom. No breakfast-in-the-room service. No razor point in the bathroom etc

Liked: Location is perfect
Disliked: Standard rooms have no value for money what so ever, very dirty and need decorating, very tacky rooms

Not particularly happy with staff,...
Liked: the food was ok at breakfast and a decent choice.
Disliked: the room was to big, it was difficult to get coffee and tea served as the hotel staff were undermanned. On arrival i was made to pay by credit card even though my company had paid in advance - the reception had no record of this transaction. They did refund me before I left however. I tried to contact recpetion from my room but no one answered when i walked down to reception to challenge them on this they were quite rude saying how would i feel if i had been talking to reception and they answered a phone!! well to be frank they need to employ more staff if that is the case and learn how to manage situations better - the only decent thing about this hotel is the rooms/location and leisure swimming pool and gym - the rest of it is stuck in the dark ages and the staff need training properly. The grey rinse brigade frquent as well with pub singer sexist entertainment !!
