Liked: Centrally located to all local attractions. Marvellous breakfasts.

Good location...needs airing out though!
Liked: It was in a good location and we had the room with the giant bath. Breakfast was lovely and the staff couldn't be more helpful
Disliked: The room smelt foisty and damp. We had the windows open the whole time and it still didn't get any better. Staff clearly knew as they tried to mask with an air freshener. I was awake most of the night feeling ill.

Great value for money, great...
Liked: Fabulous jacuzzi bath! Big enough to fit two people in. Very comfortable bed, I normally struggle but I had a good nights sleep here. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were really helpful and friendly. Great location for exploring Alnwick. 15 minute walk from the castle.
Disliked: The cups were used, perhaps they had been left by accident from the last guest. No toilet roll in the room and the bath was a little dirty. It wouldn't put me off staying again though.

Good value for money, basic...
Liked: The breakfast was excellent, staff very helpful, good value for money and located next to the castle
Disliked: Room basic but clean, too much furniture in it so a bit cramped.

Three nights stay too long.
Liked: Alnwick castle and bedroom with spa bath.
Disliked: Small bedroom and qualiy of breakfasts did not justify room rate charged.

A nice little hotel that...
Liked: The staff are excellent, really friendly and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Definitely a credit to the hotel. The food is delicious - we had the pie on the first evening - and the breakfast was tasty too. The pub has a good atmosphere and feel about it.
Disliked: There were a few things that happened that were resolved but marred things a bit - no hairdryer in the room (the lady promptly ran off to the shops to get one!) and no hot water on first night due to a problem with a water tank (so we couldn't use our spa bath). We also had to put up with a very loud burglar alarm going off in another building from 1am - 4am. Not the hotel's fault but not great in terms of getting a good night's sleep! What I do think the hotel could improve on is the general attention to detail. It wasn't the cleanest in our room (the spa bath room) and I really think, at £110 per night, some nice toiletries and drinks wouldn't go amiss. Sachets of shampoo and a tiny bar of soap feel more like a hostel than a hotel/guest house and smacked of tight-fistedness!
